The purpose of these notes is to assist you in ordering, packing, storing and managing your storage module. For ease of use we will refer to the storage box as a PSU - a Personal Storage Unit. We believe that the distinction between normal bulk furniture storage and advantages that you have with a PSU truly puts the ‘Personal' into our service. The comments made here should always be read in conjunction with the standard contract and terms and conditions.
How much can I expect to pack into a PSU?
The internal size of a PSU is approximately 3 metres long x 2.4 metres high x 2.0 metres wide. It is difficult to be precise about this but the contents of a one or two bedroom house should fit.
How much does storage cost?
Your first month charge is $200.00+ GST and everyone pays this amount. No part of this is refundable. At the time of signing your agreement we will also complete a Direct Debit authorising payment starting one calendar month from the date of commencement. The monthly rate from this time will be as follows:
$3.00+ GST per day, for each box per calendar month, in advance.
Should you have your PSU re-delivered part way through a month a credit/refund will be raised for the unused portion of the month.
When does a contract start and finish?
The contract commences from the time of delivery of your PSU until the time that it is returned to our Hastings premises.
Can I extend my contract?
Yes, no problems. You can extend your contract for as long as it suits you and we can also supply extra PSU’s if you require them.
Can I have my PSU delivered to other areas in NZ?
No problem, however, this will be subject to a separate quotation and charges. The charges outlined in this FAQ and within the Terms and Agreement only cover the Hastings and Napier area.
How much time do I have the PSU on my property for packing?
We will pick up the PSU after a maximum of two days at the delivery address.
How is my PSU locked and made secure?
The simple way is for you to supply your own padlock so that you are the only one with access. We do have padlocks available for purchase. Remember also that the PSU is in turn locked in a secure warehousing facility.
Can I access my PSU when it’s in storage?
No problems however you will need to phone us first to make a suitable time for access. Our normal hours of operation are: Monday - Friday 8 am to 5.00pm; Saturday 8.00am to noon. At other times we may be available outside these hours by negotiation. We are normally closed on all public holidays.
Where does your-box deliver to?
The basic fees discussed in the Terms and Agreement as well as in this FAQ pertain to Hastings, Napier and Havelock North. Outside of Hawkes Bay there is no restriction as to where we can deliver and re-deliver however this would be the subject of a separate quote and conditions.
Where can I access my PSU?
your-box has storage facilities in more than one place however they will mainly be stored in Hastings South. The actual address where your PSU is stored will be communicated to you at the time that the contract is commenced. We may be able to drop off at a given address and pick up and return to storage for an extra fee which will normally be $50.00 +GST.
How do I pay for this service?
The easiest option for payment for all parties is a direct debit. No matter what goods and services you require or if ultimately we need to give you a credit refund, this can all be done through your bank account. We will however accept cheques (including post dated ones) and cash payments.

What if I don’t know how long I will need a PSU for?
The use of a PSU is perfect for people that are unsure how long they require storage for. Remember that after the first month you are only charged on a daily basis so no matter how short or long the need exists the facility is available for you.
What rental will I be charged for a broken month?
Firstly, all PSU users pay an up-front charge of $200.00+GST ($225.00). This charge covers initial delivery, pick-up and storage inclusive of up to one full month. The PSU can also be re-delivered to you within the first month all for this inclusive charge. No refunds are issued.
After the first month charge per day for the broken month will be $3.00 +GST. Providing your account is in credit at the time of re-delivery we will refund the unused portion for that month.
